Happy March - I hope all is well with you!
I am excited to announce a unique fundraising effort involving my 15 year old son, Colson, and me. For our fundraiser we will be your personal Bone Broth Chefs and/or Farmers Market Shoppers, and our target market is those living in the Raleigh area.
Why does Colson need your support? He is a two time fencing Junior Olympian who qualified the first year he was eligible (age 13). He recently decided that he wants to fence at the USA National Fencing Championships. On Sunday, March 18, 2018, he learned that he is qualified to compete in four events, three of which are much above his age.
Each year Colson attended Junior Olympics (JOs) he earned money to pay for his entire trip by raking leaves. This year, with Nationals lasting over twice as long as JOs and being held in June and July, he is seeking another way to earn his trip. Along those lines, this is what we are proposing. If you are interested, we would be grateful for the opportunity and your support. Colson is a homeschooler and has flexibility to meet with you most days of the week. If you know of someone who might be interested, please share this email.
Personal Bone Broth Chef in your home
- Are you curious about the growing bone broth craze? Do you not have the time to cook one more thing? Our family has been making and eating bone broth for 12 years. Making it at home is much more cost effective and higher quality ingredients can be used. Colson and I have experience to make you an excellent broth with locally sourced ingredients and provide you with recipes to use the broth. You can learn more about his cooking efforts at his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv5Ujt7ezhI07FTYjE-XHqA.
- Cost: $50, not including ingredients and reusable storage jars (if needed). Yield: approximately 10 pints on average, but amount can vary depending on desired amount. The cost will be less than what you would pay at Whole Foods.
Personal Farmers Market Shopper
- Do you want to support local farmers but can’t find the time to make it to the Farmers Market? Did you know that the Durham Farmers Market, for example, is one of the top 30 farmers markets in the country? Do you want to have a broad range of food choices and not be confined by the offerings of a CSA (community supported agriculture subscription)?
- If you are seeking foods that are a step up from the standard grocery store quality for freshness and health, Colson and I are your shoppers! We are networked into several farmers markets, including Durham, and have a handle on who is selling sustainable foods and who may be repackaging conventional foods and selling them as sustainable. We will meet with you to learn your shopping needs and let you know how the farmers markets can help meet them.
- Cost: $50, not including purchases.
Personal Grocery Store Shopper
- Colson and I know our way around most grocery stores and Whole Foods. Just provide us your list and we will do the rest. Food sensitivities, intolerances, allergies: No problem! Each member of our family has some and we take them seriously.
- Cost: $25, not including purchases.
Colson is one hard working kid. If you live in the Raleigh area and can help him on his way to his first USA Fencing National Championships and help him learn more about being an entrepreneur, we would be very grateful. We would also appreciate any referrals if you know of others who might be interested. Please email Colson at [email protected] if you are interested.
If you want to learn a little more about what Colson is up to regarding community service and fencing, please visit his Portfolio.
Thank you for your consideration.
