I set a goal almost three years ago to complete 50 military push-ups, but injuries and sleep deprivation got in my way. Sleep seems to be forever dogging me (23 years!), but now I am finally getting on top of it thanks to Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT. The super exciting news for me is that I finally, and completely unexpectedly, met my push-up challenge three years later at the age of 48. Ha!
I could argue that EFT is my new favorite workout tool, I suppose, but that will come in a later post. My super cool new tool is the Slosh Tube. What a blast. It works pretty much everything, and after about six weeks it is still fun. I am so glad that Ryan, my always inspirational husband, learned about it and built it. There are a bunch of YouTube videos demonstrating many ways to use it.
My 50 push-up achievement was such a shock because my sleep hit a pretty significant low in 2014 until about four weeks ago when I began using EFT. I was hardly working out, trying to conserve energy and stay away from the wired and tired life. Completing 25 push-ups was a struggle and mustering the energy to try was difficult. I started getting some sleep, added regular use of the Slosh Tube, and the world is a different place. Four weeks later (yesterday in fact) I completed 50 military push-ups in a row, knocking that item off of the workout bucket list. I am extra psyched because I did it while battling a mild summer cold and it was 6:00 a.m.
I am going to relish in that achievement for awhile, but another goal will be coming.
It has been a great summer and I have a few more things to write about in the coming days, so please check back.
P.S. I kicked that cold in two days thanks to some Lysine. My neighbor turned me on to it, and it is amazing stuff. Relief is almost immediate.
Picking up Colson from his first summer camp. Yay! We missed him!
