National Novel Writing Month – Gulp!

November is National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo). I have been writing this blog for just over three years, have made 468 posts, and am read in 54 countries. That is a lot of writing and reading. There must be a story in there somewhere. I have threatened to write one, started to write one, and really not done very much.

One of my homeschool students who joined my Teen Revolution 2011 (aka Save the Planet) group, a brilliant 13 year old, turned me on to Nanowrimo. (I will update on what the Revolution kids are doing in a few days – it is good stuff!) My 13 year old friend is making her third attempt at writing a 50,000 word novel in November. She gets a little farther each year, writing 12,000 words in November 2010 at age 12.

I don’t know how many words I will write, but I will do my best to write a story to a conclusion in November 2011. I won’t be alone, as Colson, my eight year old son, has chosen to take the challenge too. Colson is shooting for a 700 word story. This kid loves to read and write, and it ought to be fun.

Thank you, husband, for going to work and making the money so that I have the luxury of trying Nanowrimo, homeschooling Colson, writing this blog, cooking like a fool and helping people.
