Just to follow-up, vaccines aren't 100% effective - there are always going to be individuals (including immune-compromised children) that need to rely on herd immunity to prevent exposure to these diseases.
We live in a world where air travel is easy - and people travel to a lot of places were these diseases are endemic. How many of the current series of outbreaks were caused by people returning or coming from outside the US & exposed to things like the measles? Most of them.
Again, get educated, get vaccinated and protect your children from diseases that they should never have to suffer through.

She had received the polysaccharide vaccine, that provides protection against four of the five disease strains for only three to five years.It's not that the vaccine didn't offer her any protection, that original vaccine requires a booster to prolong the immunity.
