Job and Birthday Updates

The job crisis has abated for now. I reported here that we Could Use a Little Help in that regard. Whew! Ryan's company placed him in another office for six weeks and then we will see what happens. Thank you again for your thoughts and job leads!

With the job crisis averted, we had some breathing room to enjoy Colson’s birthday. Last year, I reported that the Birthday Cake Buries Colson. I asked Colson if I should make him a cake given what happened to him last year. He said NO, he wanted a Whole Foods cake again. I reminded him about last year and he insisted that he was ok with getting sick again.

A delicious birthday cake from Whole Foods it was – served at an afternoon family friendly comedy show with his friends. Colson ate half a piece and didn’t finish the rest. I offered him more later that night at a dinner party and he said NO. I offered him more the next day and he said NO.

How did he feel? Fine as far as I can tell. Talk about a victory. He completely self-limited his cake consumption. His body must have been speaking to him pretty loudly. Ryan and I, on the other hand, each enjoyed 2 pieces. Even though we were grossed out after the first one, it still tasted great and we had a second one at the dinner party. We were grossed out again. We didn’t have any of the bad physical reactions that we did last year, and I am not sure why, but I am glad we didn’t.

That is the story of our birthday victory. Here is to a wonderful eighth year for my beautiful boy!
