Ryan strongly suggested that I read Barefoot Ken Bob's website. I have read quite a bit, and what Ken Bob is saying makes sense to me. I overdid it because my beloved Vibrams dulled my running experience, not allowing my form to naturally develop and shielding me from pain that would have stopped me from running before I injured my ankles. I have never had a running injury…until now. Until overdoing it in my Vibrams.
We shall see what this new barefoot experience brings. I will keep my Vibrams handy to wear when bare feet are socially unacceptable.
Tonight began Ryan’s and my new barefoot experience. Colson, our family barefoot expert who can tear down the rough concrete street barefoot, led our one block very slow walking expedition. One block was enough. We will mix things up on our little expeditions and let our feet tell us what they can handle.
Below are some pictures of our feet, inspired by Barefoot Ken Bob. Notice how widely spaced Colson’s toes are compared to mine. Ryan is looking pretty good, but I am a mess! It will be very interesting to see how Ryan’s and my feet change over time.
Now for some Traumeel, a homeopathic ointment recommended today by my Dr. of Oriental Medicine. This stuff is supposed to be the bomb for injury recovery.

Coleson's feet look so healthy!
Yesterday, at Joel Salatin's lecture, there were quite a few barefoot families. That is socially acceptable for the crowd of organic farming, naturally eating people he attracted, I assume. The college did not mind, either :-)
Katherine refused to wear shoes at all for the first couple of years of her life, and still goes around barefoot a lot. I don't like how concrete feels if you walk on it too long, and asphalt actually excretes stuff you may not want on your skin.
Women's toes get squished a lot, because of the narrow shoe fashion. It's funny to see Katherine flinch, just looking at such models when she shops for shoes.

Good luck on your barefoot running. I just met Barefoot Ken Bob a few weeks ago, and it was a good experience.
