I don’t know if I can ever achieve the loyal
listeners that ultra-conservative radio talk show and television personalities
do, but they gain traction with their rage. I think that relying on facts and civility
will ultimately be my undoing, but here is my first effort at some vitriol.
I was reading the New York Times today and
came across a full page add by Time Warner Cable entitled “Pay Fox’s Price or
You’ll Never See Your Shows Again.” Not having cable television, I was
intrigued. Apparently Fox Network is withholding shows from Time Warner Cable until
Time Warner greatly inflated its cable prices in order to pay Fox additional
fees. Time Warner refused, claiming that they did not want to be overly
burdensome to their customers, and Time Warner created a website:
RollOverOrGetTough.com to gauge customer response. Time Warner claims that over
800,000 unique visitors have visited their website and the visitors want Time
Warner to “Get Tough.”
Over 800,000 people Got Tough to try and regain
access to these television shows: FX, Fuel, Speed Channel, Fox Reality Channel,
Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espanol. That number of people becoming
involved in this "crisis" is phenomenal.
I ask, WTF?! Millions of people in America are
killing themselves every day eating poison produced by Monsanto and similar
companies (genetically modified food), taking Big Pharma’s drugs, inhaling the “food”
produced by the processed food industry and more. Foods such as hamburger are
contaminated with deadly bacteria, and food recalls are now a regular event. Check
out the December 31, 2009 report on contaminated hamburger in the New York
Times: Safety of Beef Processing Method Is Questioned - NYTimes.com.
YUM! Beef
injected with ammonia! Such
a tasty compliment to the hormones and antibiotics. How many people are
hollering about that? Now that Fox has taken away its programming, certainly
there is time to object. Oh…I get it. The people who can no longer watch Fox
will just watch something else, hence leaving them no time to save their lives
or the lives of their children.
If you feel like crap, you have at least two
choices:
Keep watching TV, keep eating the way you do, keep feeling awful and die younger than you are supposed to.
Turn the TV off, start living your life, and help others get their lives back. When you improve your health, you will not NEED the TV the way that you currently do. You will not need to escape from your day because you will be healthy enough to take what the day brings AND enjoy your nights.
Fantastic post!!
I'm pleased you're not going to be living an angry life....you've invested too much in living well for that. Living angrily is probably about as good for you as living addicted to TV :)
Oh...about MRSA...(as per the comment on your last post). I feel confident in your case that with your EXCELLENT terrain, plus perhaps some active Manuka honey you'd be just fine! ;)
Love your blog.

I relish my life without television. I'm surprised by the number of children who come into my home and ask "where is TV?" I'm pleased by the visitors that come and comment how nice it is to have a meal without the television on where you can enjoy a thought provoking conversation.
