This is a fantastic article. The only minor concern that
I have is that the article cites cost as a hindrance for eating healthy food
and cleaning with healthy products. With the help of friends and through my own
exploration, I have found ways to seriously cut the cost of healthy eating and
cleaning.
First, processed food is expensive. By cutting that out
of the diet a person saves money. Second, we buy in large quantities in
partnership with others, which can save up to 50 percent of the cost or more. Third,
we make our own cleaning products. I recently learned with the encouragement
and help of my friend Erin to make my own dishwasher and laundry detergent.
Erin is also my no-‘poo coach (see The
No ‘Poo Method). Buying all of that stuff from the store is costly, and I
am enjoying the savings. I am fortunate to have such patient friends, as
sometimes it takes me awhile to catch on (like a couple of years in some
cases!). Fourth, we are working hard to stay out of Whole Foods. Local farmers
and ranchers provide superior products for less cost. Check out the Local
Harvest link under the Finding Farmers section of my blog’s right column.
Enjoy the article. It is a new day!

Dear Laura,
Thanks for posting this article!
I must say that the news of the White House organic garden has been a real treat for me - that wave of good energy has reached far and wide, in places like New Zealand for instance, where I live.
