Ryan and I had our first formal visit with Ken Morehead at Oriental Health Solutions www.orientalhealthsolutions.com in a year. Ken has been coaching us throughout the year and he helped me immensely during my miscarriage emergency, which is a story for another time. For context in relation to this post, I now understand how women die during childbirth or miscarriage. The ER doctors did a great job, and there is certainly a need for western medicine. That said, my recovery was incredible and far exceeded western medicine’s expectations, thanks to the guidance of Ken. We were very much looking forward to this visit with Ken because we knew we had done well, but we didn’t know how well.
We spoke to Ken for about an hour before he began to treat us. We discussed food, acupressure, and supplements (which we don’t need, other than butter oil and cod liver oil), electromagnetic frequencies and fluorescent lighting. I had no ailments to mention, other than the clicking jaw that I acquired at 34. The jaw is slowly improving. My aches and pains are gone, and my energy is abundant. If you think you are supposed to feel achy at 40, just know that you are not supposed to and you can feel great. Ryan had a few ailments to discuss, such as dry eyes and sinuses, which will improve as he continues to heal. His ADD symptoms are dramatically diminished, and he has had the clearest, most creative days of his life. Colson’s and my allergies are greatly improved, and I am thrilled to say that his snoring seems to be intermittent and reduced. Poor guy, he was born with a stuffy, noisy nose, and I am glad he is getting some relief.
The acupuncture began. Ken is treating us for different reasons now than he did a year ago. He says that we have made fantastic progress healing ourselves, and it was so exciting to hear him say that he no longer treats us for the old problems. Hooray for the food that got us this far! Ken says that if we think we feel good now, just wait to see how great we feel in the next year!! What a great way to go into the New Year.
Now that we have healed a bit, we can begin to reintroduce some of the foods that we removed from our diet using food challenges. Rice was our first planned food challenge, but we accidentally challenged milk, which was hilarious. My kefir did not fully ferment due to the colder temperatures. I made the kefir smoothie anyway. Within 15 minutes I was a mucus factory. My head was pounding, I was sneezing, and I was irritable and angry. I have never experienced anything like that. I said something to Ryan, and he said that he was experiencing similar symptoms. We were blown away. I now clearly see how food affects behavior, as I wanted to beat the heck out of the cast iron skillet that I was using to make almond flour pancakes – it was sticking. For anyone that has a child with “behavior problems”, know that you can end that by eating healing foods.
Ken said that now that our bodies are not overwhelmed by numerous food-related insults, our bodies can respond appropriately to foods that we are not ready for. I did not know what that response would feel like, but in the case of milk, it was incredible amounts of mucus for about three hours, incredible grumpiness, and not feeling well for 24 hours. We skipped a kefir day, tried fully fermented kefir the next day, and all is fine again.
Now we are challenging rice. We will start by eating very little and increasing the amount each day until we reach a normal serving size…whatever that is. Today’s two tablespoons of rice seemed like a lot. After doing this for a couple of weeks, we will quit eating rice for three weeks, eat a normal serving size again and see how our bodies respond. The great thing about being this clean is that we really can listen to our bodies.
We will see Ken for another treatment in six months, and I can’t wait to hear how we are doing then. The excitement, expectation and anticipation that we feel are fun and empowering.
Wishing you strong health,
Laura
Glad to hear you all are doing so well. I bought cod liver oil and have been taking that regularly-- where do you all get your butter oil?
