I have had a thrilling couple of days. After writing
the post regarding how to choose
an alternative or complementary practitioner and discussing the
healers who helped me to recover from a fractured back, I was reflecting on the
13 years of nagging pain that the injury had caused me. I was standing and
preparing dinner when I thought that I would check in with that old injury. When
I move a certain way I always get a pain zap. So, I did…just because. THERE WAS
NO PAIN! So I tried a couple of other surefire movements that cause pain, and
NO PAIN AGAIN! I AM PAIN FREE! I have no idea when this happened, and I never
thought it would. I have never been so glad to be wrong!
The fun kept coming. The next day I was at the
playground with Colson. I haven’t been able to cross the monkey bars in years
due to the pain in my shoulders. I am in pretty good shape, and that pain
restriction frustrates me. I can hardly stand to be unable to do something. I
was motivated to try the bars again under the theory that because my back is
pain free that maybe my shoulders can handle it. Wouldn’t you know it – I
crossed all the monkey bars PAIN FREE!
I am moving and feeling like I am 20 years younger. I
am anxious to see other improvements I will discover!
How Did My Body Repair Itself?
The food that I now eat and the food that I have
eliminated from my diet are the reasons for my success. Just read these two
posts to get started: Where
Could You Begin? and Where
Could You Begin? More Great Food! The foods that I eat
promote healing. The foods that I removed cause inflammation. For a brief
discussion of the foods that I removed, read the post You
are supposed to feel fantastic! I will discuss the removal
of disease causing foods in upcoming posts.
Another fun discovery is that Ryan and I are now able
to listen to our bodies’ food, rest and exercise needs. Prior to seriously
beginning to change the way we eat (which took about two years, so don’t think
it usually happens overnight), we had no clue what our bodies needed. We were
polluted with junk, and that pollution drowned out what our bodies were trying
to tell us. We did some things, like exercise, because we were supposed to, not
because we felt a need to. We were driven by our minds’ perceptions.
It is profound how disconnected people have become from
their bodies. I didn’t know how to listen to my body until just the last two
months. It is awesome and empowering.
I am grateful to the Holistic Moms Network for helping me to
seriously start on the food journey and for introducing me to Dr. Ken Morehead
at Oriental Health Solutions.
I am immensely grateful to Dr. Morehead for all of his kindness, teaching and
patience with my many questions.
